Still on the Katy Trail
EM is slugging it out on the trail. Nightly rain cools everything down, but it is also making the trail very….. moist. Muddy. Sluggish. Quicksand like. Poor traction and tough pedaling. Our gal is making the best of it.
Stopped in Sedalia to visit the museum. Very nice and super informative. Sedalia was a cattle town during the old west era of cattle drives. I didn’t know that the western tv series ‘Rawhide’ was based on the diary of a cowboy who did a drive to Sedalia. Clint Eastwood, a very young Clint, was one of the main characters (he’s on the left in the picture). I’ve never seen an episode of ‘Rawhide’, only know about it as a cultural reference. Our one tv station received ‘Gunsmoke’ – a different yet similar legend of the west.
Pictures are of the station, close ups of the ‘train sculpture’ between the tracks and station, and things of interest inside the museum. Prize to the person who can tell us how the the rusty conical device handing from the wall was used on the rail lines of yesteryear.
Another day or two in MO, then on to Kansas. (Yes, yes, yes. Your wayward son and daughter will carry on.)
